Pop up uv tent things-any good

hi there

Off on hols to Devon in June with DD who is currently 6 months. Hoping for some decent weather & a few trips to the beach. Don't want the little one to fry so are those pop up tent things any good or will it just be like a green house? Also can anyone recommend one of those uv suits as well please?

Ta :)

We have a beach shelter (UV40) from Go Outdoors - brilliant! Has little bags on the side to fill with sand if on the beach to weigh it down, or tent pegs if using on grass. Doesn't have a front, so it's open (therefore doesn't get baking hot inside) and keeps the sun off DD lovely.

Any UV suit you can get (Next, tesco's, etc) - as long as they are UV40 or 50. We have used loads and you don't even need to put suntan lotion on, other than any parts not covered by the suit. They are really good - we did Thailand at the hottest time of year with DS in one (no suntan lotion on underneath it) and he never even got a bit of colour, nevermind burnt. One of the best inventions ever!

Cheers for that fairy. Will google the shelter & look out for a sun suit. (of course all of means that it's bound to pour with rain but at least we'll be prepared should the sun pop out)

We've used our uv tent every year for the last 4 years and its been brilliant.
They come in handy for so many reasons - somewhere to keep the picnic from getting completely infused with sand, drinks a bit cooler and when the kids need a nap, somewhere for them to lie down and snooze.
Apart from one gloriously hot summer holiday in France, all other holidays we've had have been in Devon ( up to 3 visits a year) and on the back of our experience, you would be very lucky indeed to have weather so hot the tent becomes a green house ! - if anything ours has also served as a wind shield / and on occasion a refuge from a little shower Grin
Am hoping to upgrade to a large one this year to accommodate growing children ( and me this year !)
Hope the weather holds for you - its a beautiful part of the country

I live in Spain, we have the family size one from mothercare I think. Fab, fab, FAB! I find sunsuits abit of a faff as you need to take the whole thing off to change a nappy for example. Seperate tops and bottoms much easier imo. Make the top either has popper/ zip and the necks tend to be small. You might need to try and couple of hat styles before you find one that stays on
Have fun

They are fantastic. We are in Oz though so never go to the beach without one.
