Private travel vaccines

I'm travelling to Johannesburg in May, and obviously I'm looking at travel vaccines to have before I go. Can you shop around from practice to practice for the injections or do you need to go to your own GP? My GP does the rabies injection for £170 I think, is that dear or good?

Also don't know what injections I will need, I know I'm definitely having the rabies injection no matter what, the other three are Hep A, Hep B and malaria. Need to check on my health insurance, it might insist I have them.

Thanks :)

You can't have a vaccination for malaria, & if you are just travelling to Joburg malaria prophylaxis isn't recommended.

You can have Hep A on the NHS. Don't know about Hep B.

Will you be spending time in contact with animals? I wouldn't have thought it was worth having the rabies jab otherwise. Personally I have never had extra jabs to travel to SA (have had all routine ones).
