Holiday in June with nearly 4 year old

Hi,

Does anyone have any suggestions for a 2 week holiday in June with a nearly 4 year old? Looking for a great destination (before we're restricted by school holidays) with a good balance of time on the beach and things to see/do. Kids clubs not required although it'd be nice to go somewhere which is popular with children. Any ideas welcome!!

You havent said whether your preference is for UK or abroad.

IMO the easiest way to take children abroad is by car. The best holidays we have had with our DCs are Eurocamp/Canvas type in French campsites. In June I would head south to the Languedoc. There are great places to visit plus campsites are just so family friendly.

This year we are going here. We plan to revisit all the places we went to when DCs were little (DCs are now much older).

Enjoy this time. School holidays will soon be dictating when you can go.

Crikey, world's your lobster.

Want to narrow it down at all?

We'd want somewhere abroad as we're making the most of our last holiday before school.

The only real limit is that we want somewhere safe and where the little one isn't likely to get stomach upsets.

GnomeDePlume, thanks, yes camping is something we're considering and the campsite looks great.

If you're in the South of England, and hence not too far from Channel ferries (I don't enjoy long car journeys with small children!), then totally agree Eurocamp/Keycamp is ace. Our kids loved it. We live in Scotland and took the ferry from Rosyth to Zeebrugge - sadly it doesn't take passengers anymore. Sad

Majorca is also great but (obviously) means a flight, but if nearly 4 I would have thought he'd enjoy that. We have been to Puerto Pollensa twice -very family friendly with a nice safe beach and lots of restaurants, shops etc. Also lots to see and do around the island.

Unfortunately we're in the North so it would mean a long drive.

Flights aren't a problem, We went to Puerto Pollensa a couple of years ago and loved it. It is great for young children . My other half likes the idea of Greece but I've never found anywhere with occupy us for a fortnight. I guess we like to keep quite busy.

DH has great memories from 1969 (DH was 4) of driving down from Scotland in a Morris Traveller (the size of a shoe box) with his parents, two brothers and dog. They dropped off the dog with relatives in London then drove off down to the Costa Brava stopping in campsites on the way.

I hope you can find a good holiday - children do remember!

I like Greece, and we loved Elafonissi in Kreta. We stayed in Paleohora. Amazing, shallow water, perfect for children, great beaches and history everywhere.
