Have just moved here from islington and am looking for anyone here in a similar situation. have new ds born here shortly after arriving age 4 months, but am not working and looking for friends/ contacts to share the pain of being up 2-3 times a night still.
dp is working so daytimes are largely with the wee ones - i also have a testy 2 and a hlaf yr old who is at daycare 2 days a week.
weather's great, the place is nice but have left all my mates in the uk!

Hi - sorry for belated reply. Thanks for the link - have located my local plunket playgroup and went there this morning. It was only a couple of streets away and everyone friendly.

I had a fantastic birth here. Although I arrived too late to get an independant midwife (I was 34 weeks pregnant when we arrived), I was allocated to a team at Birthcare in Auckland. There were 3 midwives in the team and I saw them all before the birth, and was fantastic to have met the midwife before the big day. I had a really chilled out water birth in the birth centre, which was a stark contrast to my previous birth in london (busy hospital, they advised me to stay at home until I started pushing, then I had a v fast ventouse delivery as they couldn't find a heartbeat/lots of meconium - it was awful). I also stayed in Birthcare for a couple of days after the birth which really helped me get feeding established so all in all everything got off to a much better start than last time.

Give me a shout when you arrive! Still not getting much sleep, but only 5 weeks until he starts solids (hopeful that this might make a difference emoticon)
