I did this for three years with young kids (first went with a nine-month old and a just-turned two). It's a lovely part of the world, and do-able in a day from London, if you're willing to pay the tolls to go faster. Can I recommend www.brittany-connections.com/ - it's run by a woman who's really switched on and organised, and who lives near to all the houses that she deals with, so she really does stay on top of things.

We moved up to Scotland so we can't drive it in a day any longer, or I'd still be going there.
