3 P.Econ seats vs 4 Econ seats?

2 adults and 2 DC - 1 baby, 1 toddler.

Do you think 4 Economy seats would be better or 3 Premium Economy?

Prices are £1800 and £2500 respectively.

We're flying with Virgin.

Where are you flying to?.

Checked baggage may be an issue for you as well; in economy you are only allowed one checked bag per pax, in PE it is two bags per pax up to a maximum weight of 23kg.

The £700 extra you quote - is that each way more or for the return leg as well?. If that is for the return I would consider paying the extra if cost is not a direct issue.

Am uncertain as well if they have fully completed their updated PE section across the fleet with the leather seating.

VA's economy seats can be rock hard as well because they're only reupholstered once every 10 years!. They can be uncomfortable to sit in as well if any of you are very tall or if the person in front decides to recline their seat all the way back.

Kenya

Yes the £700 difference is for both ways...

Don't think baggage would be an issue as you are allowed 2 checked bags in Economy to Kenya according to Virgin website so 8 bags total and 93kg + buggy
and then infants without a seat seem to get 1 bag at 23kg as well (used to be less I think?) so in PE we'd get 7 bags but still 93kg + buggy.

We are both average height so I guess it's a question of more seat width with the 4 in a row or more leg room... If only we could have 2 PE seats with 2 Econ seats squished in the middle for the kids Grin.

I would go PE to be honest. The whole experience is a lot nicer.

Kenya is a route where the baggage allowance on VA is more generous.

I would use PE if the difference is for both ways.

Premium Econ definitely! There will be a host of other factors (mostly of the 'improved level of service' category) that your PE tickets will buy you that would make it money well spent and make you more likely to come out of the flight unfrazzled and not wanting to kill your fellow travellers.

Increased chance of an upgrade to business Wine for a start.

PE - have done both...vastly better at that age

we flew PE to the caribbean last year and were surprised that the seat arms did not lift up. we were a bit annoyed as usually we lift up the seat arms so ds can stretch across two seats when sleeping. seats did recline though but I would say no more than normal. Nice service however.
