Anyone recommend a lovely restaurant in Cardiff?

We're staying at the St Davids Bay hotel for dh's birthday next weekend and would like to book a lurvely meal for the evening, within walking distance of hotel.

Dh's favourite food is Italian or bistro-type. Thanks

Check out mermaid quay website. Woods is also a bistro type place not listed there. I can't recommend anywhere specific as it's been a while since we've been anywhere other than pizza express!

Or you could head into town - there's a new Jamie Oliver restaurant, amongst other things

Mermaid quay is ok but never had an amazing food anywhere along there. Sadly Cardiff hasnt many fantastic eateries, many of the bistros in the centre are full of drinkers and the food is very average.

I would either stay in the hotel, the Hilton or more on par Jamies.
