Fancy somewhere with a few other families that's drivable. Needs to be July or august, am getting the impression we might be rather late!

Many thanks

We have been to Normandy twice with our boys (aged 18 months and 4.5 years the first time we went.) We went with Eurocamp; I don't know if that's the type of thing you'd like to do.

Prob prefer a small gite or similar with others. Grew up camping but not sure I am ready for it yet!

your DC would love the campsites - some have lodges if you don't fancy the mobile homes! If you want any recommendations for Brittany/The vendee just ask. Also there is a lovely wee campsite near Disneyland Paris I could recommend!

Thanks. I think you might be right. Keen for something a bit further south...perhaps dordogne?

Anyone tried French centre parcs?

We stayed here www.lepavillondestagnan.com/Engels/index_e.html it was fab for children in the Dordogne, big shared house for 14 or a number of little gites in a courtyard. Probably booked up already unfortunately. Can really recommend that part of the world though.

I can highly recommend Mirabelle Gites in Charente Maritime, about 30 mins from La Rochelle.

We had the most fab holiday there last August, perfect for families with young children.

Last year they had four gites, they have added another for this year and according to website it has availabity for July/August (the other four gites are booked).

The new gite is advertised on www.ownersdirect.co.uk ref FR7896. The other four are ref FR2871.

They also have a website www.bestfrenchgites.co.uk

If you want any other info let me know.

We did the Center Parcs in France (neir Rheims, cant remember the name) with our 2-year old. She had a ball - we were rather stunned as we had not done CP before...The accommodation was ok but no washing machines on site at all which is not great when potty-training. The facilities for children were good - a mini farm, horse riding, mini golf, lake-side man made beach, large pool complex, indoor ball complex etc etc

We will not be going again as I am not sure I am up for it. Everyone seemed to only be there for a 3/4 day stint and therefore no other families to spend time with.

We are desperately trying to find somewhere that is reasonable this year, too.

We have done South Brittany. which was great.

but I love Ile de Re further south near la rochelle. We stayed in a mobile home which was great had our own enclosed garden and could walk to the beach

With DD when she was between the ages of 2 and 4 when have done Champagne, Brie, Normandy, Cognac, Dordogne and Paris 5 times in those short years all have been great holidays. Partly due to most French restraunters considering it an immense priviledge to have children on their premise. We have used Alistair Sawdays, Holiday Property Bonds, Cottages 4 U and cottages direct.
