Would anyone recommend staying in a Formule1 hotel?

We usually do overnight stops in a Novotel (4 in a room) but considering a Formule1, 2 rooms.

I know they're cheap, but are the any good/comfy etc?

We stayed in a couple at the beginning of our holiday and the end of our holiday in August/September this year and really depends what you are expecting from your stay - as little as possible I would suggest 'cos that's what you get.

If you just want someplace to sleep for the night and basic breakfast in the morning then it's fine but nothing more than that.

My children were horrified to find they had to share the loos and showers with everyone else on the floor and dd1 says she was bitten in the night but ds, dd2, dh and myself were bite free.

They're OK but not particularly comfy. Also stayed in a Mercure whilst travelling down south which was infinitely better and meant we could share one room together. I'd rather pay the extra for the private bathroom but if you're on a budget the formule 1 is OK (nothing more IMHO.)

Never! Rather sleep in the car.

used it once, wasn't that bad, for just sleeping

From what my brother has told me no way!!! At weekends the rooms become shag fests for the late night clubbers. Also large gangs of lads try and cram in as many as possible in one room. I would carry on using Novotel or Holiday Inn and Travelodge.

I have stayed in one and it was very basic, but did the job. However I found a better one called BB. They do rooms for 4 look here bb hotels

They have a double then a little mezzanine floor above the ensuite with two small twin beds. It even had a baby gate at the top of the stairs of the mezzanine so tired kids didn't fall downstairs.

Cost about the same as 2 formule rooms, but much better

I stayed in a formula1 once and it was ok. Pretty much the same as a Travel Inn except no en-suite or kettle.

i stayed in one this year with DH, toddler and 10 month old v.basic, plasticky and cheap- there's no ensuite bathroom. I understand that Formule 1 is the cheapest of the cheapies. There are other brands such as Etap, Premiere Place, Mr Bed which are slightly better and only slightly more expensive
