Recommendation for Hotel/B&B in Madrid

Off to Madrid for a couple of nights in December - anyone got any personal recommendations for a good hotel or B&B?

We're just back from a long weekend there but went self catering in an apartment from holidaylettings.co.uk - what is your budget and do you know where about in Madrid you would like to stay?

The NH chain have hotels all over and might be worth having a look at on laterooms.com to see if you can get a last minute bargain.

BTW it is an absolutely beautiful city and well worth a visit!

I've posted separately about paradors - have you looked at that possibility? They look lovely, but I'm looking for other people with experience.....
