Q about milk when staying in a hotel...

Our DS is nearly 2 but still has a big bottle of cow's milk before bed every night, which I warm up a bit in the microwave...what are we going to do when we're in a hotel??

Not sure whether there will be a fridge, perhaps one of those mini-bar ones - but saying that I'm not even sure where the nearest shop will be to even buy milk!!

And then where would I warm it?

What do you all do when in hotels? UHT and hope he'll drink it room temp?? Can you even give a 1 year old UHT - or buy it in the Canary Islands?

You could always keep the milk in the sink full of cold water to keep it cool and then fill it with hot water to warm it at bed time. Do u think he'd drink milk shake with a straw instead? If so yahoo do them made with uht milk. Or maybe water - i switched our ds from milk to water when he was around 2 and he wasnt bothered just the actual drink comforted him rather than what it was. Maybe something to try b4 u go away

We got our milk from the hotel bar (and at the water park we went to). Ds2 didn't have his warmed but I'm sure they would have done if I'd asked.

Incidentally they were horrified at the idea of us paying for it, too!

Thanks for your replies - hadn't thought about asking for it from the bar....duh!

Might try to warm it less and less in the couple of weeks I've got before we go so he can get used to it...

I usually take a couple of bottles full & ask the hotel to store them. Never had a problem in the few times we've been away. They have microwaved them too.

Dd would take toddler milk instead so we just took a tub of that last time saved hunting for shops especially after just arriving.

we had this prob recently, DH put the carton in a carrier back tied to the outside window sill to keep it cool, student style, worked though- but it was england!
If the room will have a kettle just take a pyrex jug with you to warm iy.

We bought fresh milk about an hour before DD needed it and left it to warm up to room temp. Have to say it's much easier when they move onto diluted squash at night - could always try it as a special holiday treat if you don't want to move him off milk at home?
