Camping for under a grand in July POSSIBLE???

I'm looking at South of France Next summer holidays, fancy Perpignon region. Will just be me and two kids (2 and 6) so fancy a fully equipped tent with some sort of swimming pool on site nearish a town and a beach. Also needs to be doable on public transport as won't have a car (can't drive) Now I was hoping to spend about max £500/600 on accomm for a 10 day break. Rang Canvas hols and they quoted me £1400 for a chalet and £1100 for a tent for 10 days. Is this for real? For a TENT???
Does anyone know any way of getting a good campsite with amenities which won't cost the earth please?
PS I won't take own stuff, I'll be flying with minimum luggage with two kids. It's a hol without hubbie as he has less hols than me so it's all about cheap and cheerful and amusing the kids.
Any help/recommendations would be appreciated Ta

Venue Holidays are cheaper

Or try contacting owners/campsites directly

If you really want cheap and cheerful, stay in the UK tbh. We camp for a week for about £140.00 plus petrol. There are plenty of UK sites that have indoor pools, and if you head to SW it will be warm, even if it's damp.

Thanks Grufflemummy but I really need the HEAT! If you have any particular sites that are good for someone without transport that would be good though

Not in France but we stayed at Ca'Savio on the Lido di Jesolo near Venice. For 2 weeks we paid £850 in fully equipped tent. We flew with Easyjet to Venice, the coach to the Lido was right outside the airport.

It was warm too!

That sounds great. What company was that with please?

They don't go to the South of France, but another year, for another part of France then Matthews are worth a look. :)
