Does anyone have any good experiences of holidays in Fuerteventura? We'd like some winter sun over New Year and my hubby, me and our 2 boys (2 and 4) are in need of a nice holiday together.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

OK, no problem.

Tenerife is brilliant for families with children of every age as there is so much to do.

If you stay in either the Iberostar Anthelia park hotel or the Bahia del duque you are right on the beach and on that beach there is so much to do ... mini golf, large trampolines with the straps, inflatables in the sea (10 euros each for the whole day) a soft play area with trampolines, water sports, bike and cart hire and many shops, bars and restaurants to choose from.
This is my favourite part of the island and my favourite hotel on the island is the one i just mentioned, the iberostar anthelia as the rooms are lovly, and you can get them conjoining and the pools are beautiful and they have a fantastic kids club with loads going on and then in the evenings there is a mini disco followed by a teriffic show (which i am normally booked for so i can run around with the kids when the parents have a nice quiet meal)
Other hotels in this area ...
-Costa Adeje gran
-Hotel Isabel
-Jacaranda
-Guyamina princess
-Bahia princess

Other areas that are nice are ...
Los Cristianos -
-beautiful golden beach

  • nice harbour
-lots of bars and restaurants lovely to take an evening stroll etc -Not a huge amount for the kids to do unless you stay in a hotel with all the entertainment provided etc.

Hotels and apartments to look at ...

  • Noellia
-Mare nostrum resort
  • Parque santiago
-paradise park

All the hotels i have mentioned are ones i have worked in before so i know what they are like.
If you want anymore information on one or a few in more details please dont hesitate to let me know.

There are also loads of 'adult' things to do in the evenings ...

  • Tapenyaki restaurant (amazing!!)
  • Spanish threatre that are currently doing the show called 'Alma'
  • Rock story show (that my boyfriend is in)
they do tributes to abba, pink floyd and queen and it is the only lazer and robotic light show on the island, they also have dancers, acrobats etc etc, very good indeed (not that i am biast haha)

-Lovely romantic restaurants in wonderful scenery

  • Some good places to shop ... we have a large zara and mango outlets here to name just a few.

OK, i think im dragging this out a bit too much now haha, i dont want to bore you but if there are any spacifics you want to know just reply on here or message me through my website ... www.tenerifechildcare.com and il be happy to help with anything more.

Regards
Lisa.

I have had lovely holidays in Fuerteventura. It's a very quiet and developing island - can seem like the back of beyond sometimes, but I like that we're the only ones on the beach sometimes. If we want touristy stuff, the main beach towns have plenty of it.

Lanzarote is great too - a bit more to do on the island itself and some great hotels too.

hi i have been to adeje in tenerife, at the bahia principe twice, very nice hotel, weather good in oct and over xmas for us. last yr we went to fuerteventura, to princess jandia (think thats the name) it was lovely too, nice and warm in nov. Both places are fine for a week of sun, all inclusive so no cooking which is lovely, but the scenery is baron, the canaries are really quite dry (its warm there) so not that green. Not as much culture as other places but fine for a quiet week. We are going to egypt on 2nd jan, trying somewhere new!

I went to Fuerteventura in November one year (pre kids) and have to say I thought it was the biggest hole I had ever been to.

Hard to get nice food, both in terms of food shopping and restaurants, horrible touristy tacky towns, ugly landscape except for a couple of villages on the less visited side of the island, the weather was (perhaps uncharacteristically) crap. Err.... can you tell I won't be going back??!!

If I was to go back to the canaries, I think I would choose tenerife, as it looks a bit more varied and seems to have more life to it.

Oh, and there are also 2 iceland supermarkets in Tenerife for allyour 'home from home' goods.

They also sell, pampers nappies and wipes, aptimil and SMA formulas (powder form) and cow and gate ready made cartons plus rusks, baby bath and oils etc.

The one thing they do and that you can not get anywhere on the island is calpol so that might be worth remembering, just in case.
