Any recommendations for rural break in Italy with 15mo?

We're looking to go away for a week in mid-September in Italy. We've thought about a stay at Villa Pia, but wondered if anyone else had any good recommendations. We love Tuscany, and would happily return there, but also willing to consider other options. Ideally want: something in an idyllic countryside setting with a pool and nice gardens; ability to self cater (ie at least a kitchenette), although we're also keen on the idea of having delicious Italian food provided for us Grin; some sort of baby-sitting service available; a separate room for DS (we wake each other up if we sleep in the same room). Any suggestions?

Hi,

We were in Italy this summer and 2 years ago. This year we stayed in Bella Baita, a lovely place in the Italian Alps. Great views and amazing hospitality but no pool. bellabaita.com/

2 years agao we got married in Tuscany in La Doccia. It was absolutely stunning and has a gorgeous pool. They catered our wedding and the food was amazing but I'm not sure if they cater for small groups. www.ladocciatuscany.com/

I am writing a blog with travel tips for parents. Have a look and please feel free to add comments and ask questions.

All the best,

Anna

Have you looked at this website?

Thanks guys! Will definitely look at the blog, LBLT, and thanks for the website link orienteerer - I hadn't come across that one before.

Still toying with the idea of Villa Pia in Umbria as well, so will post separately to see if anyone has been and has a view!

We've just had a one-week break at www.borgoalcerro.com in Tuscany with our young daughter and it was fabulous. Lovely rural setting, nice pool and gardens, apartments with kitchenettes. Really lovely helpful owner Pablo who went out of his way to ensure we had a great stay. The only thing that they don't offer is dining - but the local village is a 5min drive away and has a couple of cheap and cheerful restaurants (as well as basic shops) Don't think you would be able to get babysitting either although you could ask.
We would definitely go back there!
