Things to do with an 18 month old in Gillingham, Kent

Hi

We are taking our 18 month old to visit his grandparents who live in Gillingham and I don't want to spend 2 days just sitting around.

Can anyone recommend anywhere we can take him?

Thanks in advance

In Gillingham you could visit the Strand. It used to have a paddling pool and attractions and rides for children. I would head down to the Kent coast such as Broadstairs if the weather is nice.

Thanks bookworm. The weather was bad last time so we sat indoors but the strand is definately worth a visit next time. Never been to Broadstairs either ...

Capstone Park is lovely

My two loved the Historic Dockyard at Chatham, but were 4 & 6 I think.

When are you there, bring him to see the Gills! DS1 saw his first game at 10 months - have to get in early if it's not going to be Man U!!

If really stuck becasue of the weather, there's decent Soft Play at Monkey Business.

Romney Hythe & Dimchurch Steam Railway is about and hour's drive away.

I've heard good reports about Diggerland, but have never been.
