Israel or Egypt in Nov? I need some winter sun close by...

I'm trying to arrange a 5 night (busy at work then, can take more) break early November, but can't make my mind up between Israel and Egypt.

I don't do package tour kind of holidays, so because of that I am a little apprehensive about the Sharm deals out there. Perhaps I'm wrong though, as I've never actually gone on one, have always booked independently.

I also hate buffets and am convinced that they are the main culprit in food poisoning (nothing like hours old rice in that 5 star hotel to guarantee it, imo), so would prefer B&B basis only, which most of the deals don't seem to offer.

Yet, most of the Israeli holiday review are from adults only, so I don't really know how difficult it would be.

It'll be dh, myself and a 2.5 year old - but one that travels well and has no issue about food or sleeping in the car whilst we drive etc. Dh and I love history, so Israel wins on that front, yet I wonder if ds would enjoy Egypt more? If Egypt, it would be Sharm or Dahab etc, not Cairo, as we have been and I don't think ds would care, so not worth the hassle.

Anyone who has either been or live there, please tell me your experiences and help me decide before the flight tickets go up even more! Please. :)

Israel in November can be very nice or the start of the rainy season (unless you stick to Eilat which is not that different from Sharm temperature and resort wise). 2.5 year olds tend to like beaches, swings etc. I've always found nice playgrounds and child friendly attractions whereever we've been in Israel. You might prefer to stay in one place and explore rather than do lots of different ones. Jerusalem or Tel Aviv are good as bases or Tiberias if you like hiking.
