I'd love some help will Egypt in August be too hot? Plus AI experiences

As you can see we've left it very late to book our holiday this year for one reason and another. I've had a good look around and it seems that there are some great prices to be had in Egypt. I'm wondering if that's because nobody in their right mind goes there in august as they'd fry alive - what do you think?

Also I'm considering going all inclusive as the idea of not worrying about a huge bill for meals and drinks appeals. We've only done keycap type holidays since having the children and it would be lovely to say yes to every request for ice cream or drinks. However were concerned that we could get fed up with the hotel food etc so again I'd love some views.

I've got about £5000 budget for five of us and am realistic enough not to expect two weeks for that.

I had friends who went last year and never again, 36 degrees at night and too hot to sit outside.

Don't know about all inclusive but I did do Egypt in August (a hundred years ago when I was 18).

It was insanely hot. meltingly so. I loved it.

It will be very hot. Very.

If you have air conditioning and want to just lie around a pool and your children aren't tiny then it's doable.

If you do organised sight seeing on an sit vonditioned bus, you should be fine.

Egypt is amazing.

i did egypt in july a few years ago, we stayed in Luxor with Hayes & Jarvis it was so hot in the valley of the kings we were pouring bottles of water over our heads!
it was pleasantly warm at night though and there was plenty to see and do, we flew up to Cairo to see the pyramids and the egyptian museum but maybe Sharm or hurghada might be better if its more a beach type holiday you are after?

forgot to say several of the tour guides commented that we were mad coming in the summer and asked why we didnt come at christmas instead?

Right then ladies I think that's a no then... back to the drawing board.

I loved Egypt in August but I do like the sun.

We paid for AI but only used it for breakfast as the food choices were pretty awful.

We bought our own alcohol too as AI drinks really are horrible. The people are wonderful and it was a very relaxing break in a big hotel.

Also, Ramadan at the end of August will affect opening times for some banks, etc and you may find limited service in some respects.
