Need a recommendation - Caribbean family-friendly resort

About to book a Mark Warner holiday, but The Times St Lucia promotion caught my eye. Haven't been to the Caribbean with the boys yet, and it seems as if there are deals to be had (though I guess that it is hurricane season!).

We went to Almond Beach Club ages ago, and I was about to book Almond Beach Village though all the latest review indicate that it needs a refit urgently. We have 7 and 9 yo boys, and dh likes dinghy sailing and windsurfing (hence MW), 7yo is very social so needs other children and 9yo needs to be active. I need cocktails and a lounger.

Any ideas? Looking to go next month.

Barbados seems to be really safe and family orientated - Turtle Beach looks good. Im also looking for family/kids friendly.

Or what about Beaches resorts?

We did almond beach village last jan, and it left a lot to be desired! But it was supposed to be getting a refit, but not sure if it has happened. It was really the food that was poor. Lovely setting though and staff couldn't do enough

If you're thinking of St Lucia, Cotton Bay Village is very family-friendly and has good watersports

Cotton Bay is lovely but they have had some crime problems recently and it's a bit remote so if you want to see anything of the island at all you will need car hire/taxi/tours etc.

Coconut Bay in the south is nice but was looking a little faded last time we stayed - I think they have dropped their prices a lot to keep the place running and hence don't have a lot of cash to splash about.

Windjammer is lovely too, but not all-inclusive (neither is Cotton Bay) and perhaps quite expensive?

I don't hear many good things about either of the Almond resorts at the moment.
