Best way buy train ticket London - Whitstable

Need to buy train tickets to get from London to Whistable.
Which is the best? cheapest way to do this?

I recall it was cheaper to book them online. I booked London to Margate so a little further but it was definitely cheaper than going to the actual station.

Do you remember if it was direct with the train company or through another site like trainline?

I got them through a link on www.daysoutguide.co.uk. I always find its cheaper to book with other websites not the company. i once went to Portsmouth for £8 on mega train not sure if they do tickets into Kent or not though.
