Or just a 'fancy dress' type thing

Is this outfit historically plausible?

I’m not a history buff, I can see it’s in the ‘style of’ Victorian dress but not quite right.

Very dress up. It muddles eras. Plus the under garments are all wrong. IMHO if you want to do it properly then you have start with the foundations and work up.

I had a sneaking suspicion it qas a pastiche

Poop

I was hoping for early Edwardian rather than Victorian

The conflict between what I can make, what suits me and what is accurate is beyond me

I thought Edwardian but can't comment on the accuracy as I'm not an expert.

Off the top of my head I think Edwardian riding style jackets like that were shorter and with a smaller waist. And the skirts were narrower.

This is from a museum site and says it’s from 1918.

That's lovely @AtomicBlondeRose

I've gone firmly into fairytale imaginary fashion - which is loads easier!

It looks like a riding outfit, with the way the hat is and jacket cut. Not authentic, even for that.
