Every year I try to learn about a period of history that I know absolutely nothing about.
This year it's the civil war. Has anyone got any recommendations for books to start with?

I read The Killers of the King by Charles Spencer - nearly didn't buy it was wasn't sure he was a good writer Blush but I loved it - made me realise how much I didn't know though.

I came on to recommend Killers of The King. It's quite dry, but good history books should be, and tells so much about the lives of people who did something incredible. A Revolutionary Rogue concentrates on one of the "killers" who I and thousands of others am a descendant of and is again very interesting.

Thank you both. I will look to see if that's available on Amazon.
