History for children

Specifically wondering if anyone knows about history clubs. I know there is the Young Archeologists and DC are keen to join once DS2 turns 8. Does such an organisation exist for history?

I would also be really interested to hear how you inspire your children to be interested in history.

My boys love HH, plus I have recently finished a history degree and about to start PG study so a lot of what we do is visit museums etc.

I don't know of any clubs but do consider getting Bill Bryson's a short history this one

Shamelessly subbing - my DS absolutely loves history and is full of questions that I can't answer are beyond my historical knowledge!

BlackCloud - YOung Arch looks great and really engaging. I have been looking at local archives as the last time I was at one there were lots of children there - turns out it was a family day.

Just waiting for DS2 to be 8 in the new year then we are jointing YA.

I think if you're passionate about history and bring your kids to museums and castles and places of historic interest (at home and abroad) and talk to them about history, they'll pick it up naturally.

Also, maybe do a bit of research into your family history. That can make big historic events more personal.

A quick update: the boys have been attending Young Arch for about two years now and they absolutely love it.
