Has anyone done the MBA at the OU?

Am thinking about it...I've heard good things about the OU and I would like to do an MBA that's flexible - just in case I manage to get pregnant and have another baby half way through..! But I also want to do a really good MBA - one that's interesting, well taught and well-respected.

Any experiences or thoughts?

Yes, I'm just finishing one.

It's been a fairly long road and it is expensive but it's very well accredited.

What is quite nice is that you can specialise in several areas too (HR, IT and Life Sciences I think).

I don't know at what point you'll be 'jumping in' but the main part of the MBA has a mandatory Strategy module which is tough going but interesting, a couple of optional courses and a mandatory project course. It's all very flexible though really. They expect you to be in work but I've bluffed it a bit, writing about doulas and home education among other things! I had a baby in the middle of Strategy and did ok

Hi Starkadder - I dont know about MBAs but I did an MA with the OU 10 years+ ago, over 6 years during which time I had small children, and was pregnant twice! I thought it was fantastic.

Mine was three modules which you did 1 per year at a time. I did mine one year on, one off and it worked out fine. I thought the resources were really well organised for people like me who couldnt easily get to a library, and presumably now everything is online... (That was the olden days, wrt ICT!)

The thing I missed out on was contact with other students but tbh I mnaged to motivate mmyself anyway. It fitted in with me working part time and having evenings free once dcs were in bed.
