I work full time in a job I like less and less. Increasingly it does not fit with the needs of my family, which in turn is making me more unhappy. I would like to undertake an MA to change career direction but am very worried about money. Is there funding available for an MA? Has anyone received a career development loan which a friend suggested may be applicable? If I take the part time route it will take twice as long and due to the high pressure and long hours I could not manage family life, the job and MA study. I would have to reduce to part time hours, so financially it seems very confusing. Can anyone help one fed up Mum - Please!!!???

I have just started an MA with the Open University and it costs about £1300 for each year spread over 3 years. You could do it quicker or even slower but the total cost would be the same. The work load is about 15 hours per week for the course that I am doing so you would probably find it easier (and more enjoyable) if you weren't working full time. Obviously plenty of people fit in studying with a full time job but they must have a lot more energy than me!

Do you have a particular university in mind? They may have a section about funding on their website, where to find bursaries etc.
