I left school with pretty much nothing, I had my dd1 at 17 so wasn't goingt o college etc, it's a while off yet I'd need to do something else first, does anyone know what I'd need to do first? I'm considering an NVQ 3 in childcare as I'm a childminder and will be childminding for the next 10 years minimum and I've heard this is equvilent to an A level.

I'm just wondering how I could eventually end up with a degree in Art, I want a degree because I might want to become an early years practioner and I'd like to do Art because it interests me and I'm relativly good at it and it would come in handy in my day to day living I guess, I have visions of me oil painting on a hill during my retirement........(I'm 27 now)

Could I get help with costs? How much does it cost?

So who can tell me anything about any of this, it's all completely new to me

Your NVQ you should get help from the local council

Your OU there are grant available from them (& maybe help with other costs too)

Thanks KM (will call you when my throat is better, won't be this weekend though as we're away)

I have a friend who has done NVQ 3 and EYP and she thinks I could do it if I put some time aside each week to do the written work, perhaps after the wedding when dd2 is a bit older.

hi i am similar to you i had my son at 17 so havent got any great qualifications i work for the nhs now i did my nvq 3 sbouty 5 years ago in care and to be totally honest it has been a waste time as i know want to go to uni and the nvq3 counts for nothing
i need to either do an a level or an access course im really dissapointed as it was sold to me as being entry for uni etc

I did my NVQ4 with the OU - the points for that can be used towards a degree in Early Years AFAIK.
