Yes you can do it part-time (so you have to stay an NQT for longer), I suppose the challeneg is finding a school that will offer a part time position for an NQT
is it primary or secondary?

Yes, I am doing mine part time. You have to complete it within 5 years of starting it. I love teaching part time, it gives me loads of time to get myself organised and i pick the kids up from school every day.

TDA can be fairly flexible in requirements for NQT year. Someone I know has had loads of experience teaching, some part-time, did PGCE a few years' back. TDA have approved her NQT year (in 1yr) next year with just 12 hrs teaching, at least half of it in very small SEN classes.

But as BellaBear says the trick is finding a school that will accommodate you.
