Will strike action affect your child's uni choices?

I'm wondering will the strike action announced at Dundee and Edinburgh impact student choices of university?

I've one in Edinburgh and last year was bad enough but a full 5 weeks of strike action is going to be really impactful. Edinburgh was/is on dd's list but I'm really wondering whether that's wise if this might either drag on (as it has done already) but at an escalated level.

What are your thoughts?

Well, these universities are going ahead with brutal staff cuts, so your DC will be in huge classes, with cut back small group teaching.

It's happening across the UK.

UK universities are in crisis. Home fees don't cover costs (or in Scotland, public funding) and successive governments have caved to anti-migration activists to include paying student numbers to migration figures, while forcing universities to rely on those international students' fees to subsidise domestic students - who are universally loss leaders (by arund a minimum of £1,500 in the "cheapest" to teach disciplines).

My dd was in Newcastle when they were striking. She had absolutely no lectures at all for a whole semester.

So she paid £1000 for half a year tuition and half a year’s accommodation. She was devastated because she was doing the courses because she was interested in the subject and then she didn’t get to do it.

She also had absolutely no guidance for her dissertation and ended up getting a 2:2.

She was also bored to pieces.

... and Nottingham, and Goldsmiths.
