Parents of year abroad MFL students

DS is off on his big adventure to France tomorrow. Excited for him but feeling very wobbly today. He’s been at a local uni so at home for the first two years. I know this is what he needs and I think he’s ready…

Anyone else?

Just wanted to wish him all the best. It will be the making of him!

He will have a great time and France isn’t far and he will only just have gone and then he will be back for Christmas.

Mine was in Germany and Japan, one fine, one too distant for any trips back. He had ups and downs but all in all he had a total blast and made international friends for life.

Yes me! Mine’s been in Italy for 3 weeks, having a whale of a time so far. I’m trying but failing not to be a Find my iPhone stalker. I did the same at that age so am super jealous - I loved my time abroad.
I’m sure he’ll have an amazing time but it’s so hard for us parents. At least mine was living away from home for 2 years so I’ve sort of been used to it.

Thanks all. He left very early this morning after a very stressed evening of packing. Looking forward to hearing he’s safely there with no more drama.
