Recommendations for online A-level providers for retaking Biology and Sociology

Questio about online year long A levels. Ds got a E in Biology and is having a year off to try to get a C in Biology ( OCR) or Sociology ( AQA). Possibly looking to do both online for June exams next year.

Any recommendations for a company who will thus? Practical for Biology isn't a problem as school said he can carry that over. Might possibly not need to sit the whole of Biology again and try to just do past exam papers and grading on brush up on areas of weakness.

Might need better putting more effort into getting a C in Sociology as did that at gcse. The A level subject isn't important. Only getting any C matters

He will have to sit all the papers again, even if the practical endorsement can be carried over.

Southwest Science School, online self-paced A Level Biology. It’s a great interface & she can work through the course at her preferred pace. They include marked mocks etc. We love SWSS for IGCSEs, I’ve heard great things about the A Level course.

We haven’t personally used her, but I know someone who has used this sociology tutor for AQA Sociology A level. She offers groups or 1:1 tuition.

Southwest Science do AQA A level not OCR.

Two things worth checking before you compare providers: whether each one teaches the same exam board specification he sat first time (re-using existing notes and past papers saves months), and whether the provider can enter her for exams or whether she'll be a private candidate arranging her own centre. We've just signed up with liftcollege.co.uk and so far so good.

Yes, having a centre to sit the exams at is really important.

Even with a GCSE, doing the whole of sociology in one year is a tall order. It's very content heavy.

The sociology tutor there is assuming this is revision or help, not teaching the subject - by the looks of it.

There are pupils who use her who are EHE and EOTAS/EOTIS/C, so not just for revision. Although obviously there needs to be work done outside of the sessions as well.

I mean the coursework sorry I'm dyslexic. Ie not re do the work topic by topic, just do past exam papers and look at his gaps

Yes it's going to be a tall order to sit I a year, but this is going to become like their job or college / school. So I'm hoping 15 plus hours a week set aside. Biology they have already covered all the content and still have it saved online from school.

School have confirmed they can sit as as a external candidate at school in summer.

It's going to be a big ask but they did it at gcse, got a A in history and a B in psychology so are strong essay writers. Just chasing a final B or C for uni. They can bin off Biology if it gets too much. They just need any decent grade for the uni they have set their heart on.

Worse outcome is they don't get above a D and will have to go to s uni that will take A,B, E.

Im hoping it's a good life lesson if nothing else
