Can a university still consider an applicant after clearing at that Uni (but not UCAS) has closed?

Has anyone ever been accepted on an Uni course after that Uni has closed its clearing and if so, how? YP has changed mind about Uni and wants to try for insurance choice and to reject insurance, A level grades exceed insurance choice's requirements, it is not a very competitive course. Has tried phoning admissions but with no joy, should YP contact the relevant department direct - I appreciate it is a busy time for Unis but is it worth a long shot?

It depends if the course is full. It’s worth contacting the admissions tutor/department to see if there are still places on the course.

Clearing may have ‘closed’ in the sense that they no longer have a dedicated clearing helpline but courses which have vacancies can still take applications.
