I read somewhere that businesses are spending a bit more to recruit people with experience / a proven track record, rather than on an unproven young graduate who are now quite expensive due to rises in NI and the minimum wage.
Many employers (especially the smaller ones that make up the majority of businesses) can't afford to take a risk on an inexperienced worker if they don't work out as they're expensive and difficult to get rid of.
It's very tough on graduates over the last couple of years and I think will only improve with a reversal of government ideology which I can't really see happening anytime soon.
