Phone them first thing and see whether they can fix it/allocate another room.

If they can’t, get her and yourself onto every Bristol Uni accommodation social media site going. Facebook/Insta whatever the Union suggests.

For various reasons a fair few students will need to drop out in the first couple of weeks. Some will be given rooms they simply can’t afford without deferring to work for a year.

Worst case scenario, pop her in a cancellable Airbnb for the first fortnight.

Not ideal, but she probably won’t do that again (say I as a parent of a child who didn’t spot her student loan wasn’t fully approved and had to spend 3 weeks trying to get both sets of admin to sort it out).

Try Trading Standards?

From the OP, this wasn't the daughter's cock up - she was supposed to log in in 3 days time to book it (tomorrow) - she has checked today and it's already gone.

@Givenawayherroom Did the new link work last night?

BountifulPantry · 21/08/2026 09:22

Loads of students drop out (or done even come!) so just get her on a waiting list and then get a short term air b and b room for the first couple of weeks

No it's a nightmare I'm so worried her room has been given away and someone else has legally got it.
She was already worried etc all day she's spent on phones and emails and the link still doesn't work

Thanks yes we maybe have to do this but it's not ideal for a more shy person who really needs that exposure early on to help make friends and she didn't know anyone else going and it won't be the same experience . Bristol is her first choice it should be an exciting time but it's an Orwellian faceless burocratic nightmare and unite is a company ,investment company that doesn't care.

Fingers crossed for you. DS went to Bristol last year through clearing. I thought he’d be lucky to get halls but he got the exact ones he wanted. He’s loving Bristol - hope your DD manages to get things sorted.
