Medicine - heading into 5th year!

DD is heading into 5th year and starting to analyse the 2026 application ratios. Anyone else starting a spreadsheet? @mumsneedwine - you're normally my guru! London is back up to 2.3, apparently...

DD did a 6 week placement at Rampton. Really enjoyed it and found it fascinating if terrifying at times. No pony tail and taught how to get out of a choke hold 😨

DD did not enjoy her psych placement - a couple of quite scary incidents…

Newcastle do MLA immediately after Christmas (that’ll be a fun holiday…) then she’s off do do a placement in Tanzania and one in Zanzibar before coming back for the prescribing exam at Easter.

She’s working hard this hols to earn money for a new car. At least she’ll be 23 soon so the insurance will go down a little.

DD has spent a lot of time working on psych wards as a HCA to make a bit of extra cash (weekend shifts pay really well). She was well trained in self defence. She’s had hot things thrown on her and cut off 2 ligatures. But she loves it - and jokes that at least they can all wipe their own bums!!

Wow - that puts DD’s complaints about how hard her job is (sports coaching) into perspective!
