When does Bristol University break up for Christmas for Design Engineering?

DD is off to Bristol U to study Design Engineering. We are going away around Christmas time for my niece wedding ñ.

Does anyone know when they break in Christmas?

Bear in mind that Christmas breaks from university tend to be breaks, not holidays. Your student will probably have assignments to complete, lecture notes to consolidate and exams to revise for, and may not want a long holiday away.

Maybe your DD could find out by looking on their website or calling the Dept. Is she definitely going there? Does she have her results and a confirmed place or unconditional? Having said that most unis will have similar term dates probably.

As PP say, a Christmas break at university is not a holiday. One of our DC who has just graduated didn't not work at all during the Christmas holidays as there were deadlines and exams right afterwards.

No experience of Bristol specifically but, in my experience, not until around three weeks into the first term for the full timetable.

Every university has term dates online at least a year in advance. Just Google it.

I'm honestly not trying to be snarky but the dates have been googled and a link spelling them all out very clearly was posted as literally the first reply on here (by me).

I actually don't understand why people are repeating the same information or suggesting googling when the question has been answered? I'm only asking because it's a thing that seems to happen on other threads and it's being demonstrated very clearly here, so was hoping someone could give me some insight so I would understand this behaviour more generally.

Was wondering how accurate this is and was hoping that someone who has a kid attending there will provide more info.

DD is at Bristol and they have exams before Christmas rather than after (think they changed a few years ago so Christmas could be a break).

It's the university's own website! If you call the university, they will read the information off the same page!

Of course this is accurate. They plan their dates years in advance and then plan everything else around them. If you call them they will tell you to look at this page.

What are you going to do if she has an exam on or after the 18th?

Missing university exams is not optional. She will have to take a later flight.

Would you mind telling me what dates does your daughter have exams exactly? And what is she studying?

Screenshot from the aforementioned link. Since the assessment week is 14th - 18th, booking a flight for the 18th itself os a bit risky. Your DD needs to contact the department administrator, tp see what and when the assessments are, I would suggest.

What a short Christmas holiday! My dd was there from 2010-14 and they started in October and one year she did a professional Christmas show leading up to Christmas. Everyone else had gone home! The terms are much longer now. When DD was there the semesters were more like Oxford. Plus they had reading weeks and exams at the end of the semesters. So not before Christmas. This is more like school terms and dates.
