I’m think of uni of York
but guessing it’s similar in other cities

any company recommendations and any idea how much it would cost
it’s a smallish amount of stuff pots n pans
frames
airer
etx

just bit s along way to transport it all home

also I’ve got no idea of how much storage I’d need for a med room, no furniture but quilt and bed linen etc

Not sure about York but Leeds is about £25 a week for 35 square metres. I think there may be a 50% off for 8 weeks in some storage places too.

We are looking for my 26 year old who is going to move home temporarily (to save) due to extortionate rents!

Mine at York just finishing up his 1st year is using Pickfords. They will pick your stuff up and deliver it where you need it for the start of your 2nd year. I think the smallest unit is a "locker" described as fitting 4 suitcases and is something like 8-10 pounds / wk.

Look into ones that do collections and deliveries so they provide the boxes, you pack, they collect it, store it and then deliver it to their new address.

My son's uni has a list of local companies but say they just provide the list they cannot vouch for them. Your son's uni probably has something similar. I know a lot of international students did this when finishing their first year but sadly not at York.
