Does anyone know whether Bristol or Bath accomodation is more harder to find after 1st Year? How easy is it to only get accomodation for the term-time?
Thank you!

Second year accommodation is usually private rental and that means the whole year. You can find out if it’s possible to stay in uni accommodation tho (unlikely in Bath I gather).

Rentals in Bristol are ££. I know of two YP who have paid £10k a year for a room in a shared house. I think Bath may be similar tho I have no personal data.

Definitely all private rentals from yr 2 onwards, often not enough campus accommodation for freshers there on insurance offers. DC who’s going into 4th year in Oct said getting houses for next year has been worse than usual but they managed it.

You do have to be really on it when the time comes as houses were going within the hour of coming in the market and there was even talk of queues of students at letting agents half an hour before they open…. And Bath is not cheap, you’ll be lucky to get a shared house for 5 or 6 for under £200 pw each incl bills.

DS is in Bristol, house share from 2nd year £625, they did panic and got sorted quickly, DS never saw the house before he moved in, 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom with the only toilet, the landlord does very little to keep the house up together. He’s sorted a much better house share for 3rd year, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, similar price.

There’s absolutely no need to pay £10,000 on rent in Bristol. They obviously knew parents could afford it so didn’t look for cheaper. Like most pricing, desirability of location affects price. Being a bus ride away is cheaper.

I had one graduate from Bath last year and one finishing second year at Bristol. Neither had any issues at all finding accommodation, last year DS and he chilled out lates left it until July to find a 6 bed house and still had no issues. Pricey places to live though and my bank account will be mighty glad when he finishes next year!
