Short-term London student accommodation for three-week placement

Dd has a placement this summer and has been sent a list of student accommodation to consider.

So far, it’s looking like about £1400 for 20 nights.

Does anyone have any experience/recommendations of their Dc having to find short term London accommodation?

That sounds about right. I often stay in University halls in vacations and it’s between £60 and £90 per night bed and breakfast. Have a look at the website University Rooms. It’ll be more expensive if she insists on an en suite bathroom

Do you know anyone living in London? We once let our spare bedroom to the daughter of a friend of a friend while she was on a similar placement.

@ParmaVioletTea - that’s the website she’s been on and found one for about £65/night.

@Rocknrollstar - we’ve checked out Airbnb and she might be able to get something for less a bit further out.

Or try Spare Room for a short term let?

@PinterandPirandello Nothing at the moment for the area and period she needs it for but I’ll keep checking.

Just check the difference in transport costs if she is further out. And the public transport . It’s fantastic she has the placement but making the best of being in London will be an important experience

My DS had an internship in London and rented a room in Unite Halls in Bethnall Green for around £350 a week for 3 weeks. Worth checking what their current rates are.

My daughter has a room in a student house in Archway which she is interested in sub-letting for part of the summer. What dates is your daughter in London @Maggiethecat?

I totally get that! The place for £1400 is within walking distance
of work so no extra travel costs and is a good base to explore London.
