Does anyone know if Dundee and Glasgow accept combined science for GCSE. It says that is you aren’t taking biology for a level you need a 6 in biology at GCSE. But ds did combined science for GCSE. I’ve emailed both the unis but no reply yet

Why doesn’t he have biology at A level if applying for medicine? If not too late to change subjects I’d switch. I accept that it’s not essential and for most universities chemistry will suffice but he will be competing against applicants of whom 99% will have taken biology. A lot of 1st year biology content in medicine will be skimmed over as it’s expected that most applicants will have already studied it.

Yes. All Unis accept combined science. Not all schools offer triple so it would be discriminatory to demand separate sciences. Not sure how you show a 6 in biology though but they may ask for transcripts from school (who can see the break down)

Yeh I know but he only decided he wanted medicine in about May - end of year 12 🙈so it’s all new. There’s quite a few unis that don’t require biology as long as you have chemistry and he has maths as well. Thanks both
