DS2 has been offered this accommodation.
Has anyone’s DCs gone there recently?

My son was offered Calico today (amberstudent) despite choosing 3 uni accommodations and it being his firm choice. Worrying about cohort but sounds like there’s a lot who won’t be in halls…

A LOT of Liverpool students will be in private halls this year I wouldn’t worry too much although appreciate not ideal.

kaplan is a good quality one, literally over the road from the back of campus so shouldn’t impact on his experience at all.

@annaspanner18 calico is a good bit further out from campus, 20 minute walk. But he’s basically in the city centre so positive if he likes a night out?

you can ask to go on a wait list for a uni owned room, and rooms definitely do open up between now and September

Thanks @AelinAG
Liverpool was his insurance choice but we were still shocked he didn’t get one of his selected 3 accommodations.
It’s nice to know there’ll be a lot of other Liverpool students there. He was concerned it would be predominantly international students.

@AelinAGhe actually wanted greenbank as he’s quite outdoorsy and sporty and not at all a night out person. If he accept calico isn’t he’s locked into the tenancy? How would a waitlist work if he got a place?

AelinAG · 26/08/2025 15:49

what’s his deadline to accept calico?

annaspanner18 · 27/08/2025 18:34

@AelinAGit said 48 hours but with the bank holiday plus he’s been working he’s replied just outside that and been offered a studio on 51 week contract ☹️. We’ll have to call them on Friday when he’s not working and try to work it out. At this rate he is is inclined to decline the place and apply again for next year with grades in hand as we can’t afford a 51 week contract plus he will be miserable in a studio on his own ☹️. Who knew it would be this hard.

There are students refusing their accommodation all the time - can he send an email to the halls team tonight? They’re really good at doing their best for students. It’s the hallsres email
