For those who's DC are about to move into halls soon. Have they already started wondering about their uni friends and what they'll be like?

Because think about it. Your DC closest uni friends are out there, just waiting to be met.

No not really. DS2 will probably make more friends agreed, but he knows quite a few that will be there from college. He’s also knows someone who he is good mates with from when he was at Camp America.

I think DD is just hoping she meets some people she likes, and who are sociable. She doesn't know anyone else going to her uni.

No, just hope she does meet some nice people, my uni friends were very much of the time because we were all thrown together but in fact we never really had much in common and I stayed much closer to my school friends over the long term.

It's exciting but I also think it's wise to be prepared for the initial experience being a bit underwhelming ... it was for my DD. Her flatmates weren't particularly sociable but luckily she eventually found her tribe in other flats/clubs etc.

I agree with this. Sometimes kids throw themselves into the first friendships they find, but they don’t end up being the right ones. My DDs good friends who she’s now living with in third year came along later, but have turned out to be the best friends.

DD had access to the social media accounts of all her future house mates so she did know a bit about them before arriving - I think they formed a What's App group.

She got on fine with them but they didn't become her closest uni friends.
