Liverpool 2nd Year Accommodation - not in city centre

Has anyone got any experience of their children or themselves living in shared student accommodation outside the city centre and any tips/recommendations.

Most students move to shared houses in smithdown

My dd lived in Smithdown in 2nd year, will be there on 3rd year too. She likes it. Loads of student lets are there. Avoid Kensington if possible as it's rough compared to Smithdown according to her.
