Northumbria University Open Day

Hello

Just wondering if anyone is familiar with Northumbria? My daughter and her friend both want to visit in June but it looks like one course is at Coach Lane Campus and the other is City Campus. The open day is 9-3. Will they have enough time to do both campuses properly as they'd like to stick together (their courses are completely different). Thanks!

No knowledge of Northumbria, but do know Newcastle. They're quite different areas of the city; I would say it'll be difficult to do both unless they run shuttle buses between them. It's about a 10 minute drive on a completely clear run but of course could be 30 mins or more drive between them in traffic congestion. Not walkable between them in my opinion.

I’m not sure how long it takes to do a tour as it’s been 20 years since I was at uni, but they are about 15mins away in a taxi and I can’t imagine traffic will be that bad mid day, so I would imagine if they split the day it’s do-able. That said, if a uni tour usually lasts a day then it’s an obvious no!

The no1 bus goes from city centre to coach lane but around the houses a lot - probably takes about half an hour. It would make sense for the uni to run a shuttle bus. Definitely not walkable.

So, rather than people guessing, there is a sample programme on the website. You'd get sent this after booking on it, when it's available.
So, there is a shuttle bus between the sites.

Whether it's doable depends on whether there are subject talks, at certain times, and whether they need to be booked (this would be at the point of booking on the day). The should offer the talk morning and afternoon.

I would say the minimum would be the subject talk, accom (although that's not essential) and subject chat at the stand (if have questions). Would be pushing it, maybe, to do all that twice at two sites. Maybe just do one accom, depending on what is open.

Thanks, that's really helpful.
