Southampton Uni "Catered Package"

My son is doing his accommodation application for Southampton Uni. There are only about 100 catered places (at Highfield Hall) but the non-catered halls offer a term-time only "catered package" for £60 a week. This gives them "credit" to spend at Campus food outlets at a 20% discount. My question is, if they don't use the full credit each week is it lost or refunded?

Any reviews on this option would be appreciated. My son will be doing engineering, so on the Boldrewood Innovation Campus for most of his lectures. It only has one cafe and it isn't listed on the Catered Package page of the website so may not even be included.

Ah, just found the T&Cs and yes, the credit is lost if not used.

That used to happen with the Birmingham version, but (between DS1 starting there and DD following him 4 years later, I tnink) they changed the scheme to one where unspent money on the card was rolled over during the academic year. I don't remember Southampton having a catered package at all when DS1 was looking (neither DD nor DS2 had Southampton on their 'long list'), but since all of ours wanted self-catering, we wouldn't have looked for it.
