Anyone used guarantor insurance or only my share?

Just realised that my OH has signed the guarantor agreement for my DC’s student accommodation (tenancy starts in September) and it is joint and several liability. Are there any good insurance providers, that would cover the rent liable if one of the other sharers left and didn’t pay the rent for the rest of the year? Hopefully this is not likely to happen (although one of my housemates at uni left fairly early on in 3rd year, but fortunately we were not liable for the remaining rent).

I’ve seen Only My Share mentioned, and Guarantor Insure, but the Only My Share website has a big alert on it saying that it might be an impostor, and the Gurantor Insure just looks like a mediator service / legal costs, but also says they are altering the terms of the insurance so it is not available at the moment..
Anyone got any experience of this, and any suggestions for insurance? Thanks :)

I used guarantor insure when my student son was part of a house share in London. It was a 6 bed house and I couldn't sleep at night knowing we might be carrying the can for the whole place.

I spoke on the phone to GI and they were very reassuring and clear about how it worked and what was covered. Cost a shade over £100 for a year, which was great value for peace of mind.

I guess you find out how good it is whe you make a claim, which, fortunately, we didn't need to do.

Thanks for this… I looked on trustpilot and couldn’t see any reviews of people who have actually claimed (Guarantor Insure), and it doesn’t seem available now anyway; and the reviews of Only My Share on Trustpilot seem mixed…
