DC is off to university next year.

Applying for halls of residence feels like a minefield.

One has stated rent will not be payable if they can prove the didn't get the grades or the offer Is refused by the uni. No other circumstances. Reviews look ok, this concerns me.

I can think of other circumstances.
DC will decide where they want to go after their A level results in August.

For anyone that has navigated this, do you have any top tips to share please?

Would private halls not be relevant to any of her options? Why would she otherwise not take her firm place?

@pengwing it is a music or drama course. The definitely are going through UCAS and have been put on a reserve list for their favourite choice.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I think this is an unusual circumstance. If DC accepted their unconditional offer and went into uni halls this would be much simpler. They would prefer the two courses they still don't really have firm offers for. I understand now that this makes it more complicated.

I'm fine paying a deposit. I would not be able to pay the entire 44 week contract if DC was not living there.

They will only get a minimum loan. If I don't pay the accommodation, they will not be going to university. This is a lot of money for my family.

@WhiteRosesAndCandles in that case you don't really have an option but to hang out til you hear which as it's through UCAS I'm assuming will be by June.

Most drama/music places are unconditional as based on audition so you probably won't need to worry about an insurance anyway.

Are you happy to disclose where she is on the reserve list for, you might be able to get better accommodation advice that way.
