Student-aged son has been offered three weeks in Poland this summer as an Angloville volunteer, we are aware of the basics in that there's no pay but food/lodging covered and we're OK with that, interested in anyone who has direct experience.

My DD did two weeks, two different camps - both in Poland. It’s a gruelling schedule and she was very tired that first week. Something to bear in mind is they don’t provide accommodation for the night between camps.

I booked her at a hotel near the pick-up point for week 2 and surprised her with a late-night Thai massage. Second week was a breeze after that! 😂

Her top tip: The food is meh (if one is feeling charitable). Stash of snacks highly recommended!

She became friends with quite a few councillors from Germany, Australia etc and is still in touch. One is visiting with her right now in St Andrews!

Interesting - thank you! We knew about the night's accommodation between camps and transport between cities. Polish trains seem very good value. Will make sure he takes lots of snacks but then again he is not discerning about food usually!! It appears he is to be placed on camps with teenagers rather than adults which I think will suit as they appear to do games/activities rather than conversation all the time.

He's looking forward to it - he's had a very rough year with study and this will be both a good break and something interesting for the CV. Plus the chance to mix with other people from all over the world.
