Cardiff uni for a Healthcare degree

DD has applied for a healthcare degree (not nursing). She has 5 offers, one of which is Cardiff. At the moment she's thinking of Cardiff for her insurance, but I'm concerned about what is happening at Cardiff with redundancies and course closures. She also hasn't visited yet but is planning to go to the offer holder day. She got a really good from the interview which is why it made her shortlist. Can anyone give feedback on Cardiff and whether you would discourage your child from putting it down with recent news about Cardiff. Additionally, if anyone knows much about the kind of placements you get around Cardiff that would also be helpful.

I personally wouldn’t go to a university that’s about to close the department. Yes shell be able to finish her course and get her degree, they’ve confirmed that. But what kind of experience will she have?

Is it Occupational Therapy or Physio? HEIW plan numbers carefully and the funding follows this. Ring them and ask about cuts. Cardiff is a good university but you need more information.

No, it isn't either of the courses you mentioned. It's Pharmacy, if that makes any difference to responses here.

my dd finished Pharmacy in Cardiff in 2024, she has stayed in Cardiff to do her pre reg now.
It would be fair to say she quite enjoyed her time, the staff on the whole were very approachable, she had an awful lot on line ( but she did go in 2020, Covid!). In general I can’t say I can find fault with it. She was as happy as you could be considering it was Covid, the uni is good, Cardiff is nice, the experience is what you make it. I would say though. The course is tough, and Cardiff in particular is known to be tough. But she does say now, that she’s half way through pre reg, she’s glad it was as tough as it was!
