Anyone still waiting for offer from Bristol?

DS sent off his UCAS form in October and has had offers from all others on the list quite quickly except Bristol which says pending .
I just wondered if they are especially slow or if he needs to chase? ( he’s telling me ‘it’s all fine mum , just wait”)
But even the Oxbridge offers have gone out now do I wonder what they’re waiting for?

The deadline for offers coming out is May, you're not able to chase them up about it. They were one of the slower unis replying when my DD applied.

sausageupanalley · 04/02/2025 23:09

They are known for holding a lot of applicantions. They were likely waiting for all applications to have come in by the UCAS deadline at the end of January and will soon start sifting and making more sets of offers.

Yes. Child's form went in a month ago, nothing from Bristol yet.

TattooGuineaPig · 19/02/2025 18:24

My DD had an offer from Bristol in October after applying in Sept. for a very competitive STEM course. But she has been kept waiting by Bath. I can't remember the thread, but someone said they sometimes for certain subjects put people on hold, with a sense of who they will offer to and who they won't but wait til they have all applications in at the end of January before making firm decisions in order to be equitable.

FiveFoxes · 19/02/2025 19:26

You have my sympathy! DS got an offer last week from Bristol after applying in October.

Addeline · 19/02/2025 19:32

Try Student Room for more information on the course offers. Mine does have an offer for an early entry course. But some on the same path haven’t heard or have been rejected. Which makes me think there are definite yes’s, definite no’s and maybes, depending on whether the yes’s accept the places. So it can take months until you find out.

myslippersarepink · 19/02/2025 19:37

Mine has an offer from Bristol but still waiting for Exeter. She wants to accept her two choices but can't do that until she has all her offers, she tells me. Is that correct?

JennyTals · 19/02/2025 19:39

Think bristol is known for sending out offers late, april/ may

cockeyedoptimist · 19/02/2025 19:53

Thanks for your replies . He heard yesterday that it was a rejection ( with 3A* predicted ) but it was a competitive STEM subject . i guess as PP said they know who they want . No worries tho . He’s got three other offers to choose from .
thanks for the reassurance

Sorry to hear that. I'm glad he's got other offers though. I hope he isn't allowing it to get him down

She doesn't need to wait. She can withdraw from the 3 who have not replied and then firm / insurance the remaining two.

myslippersarepink · 19/02/2025 23:57

Really? I don't think she knows that and I know nothing about it. Thank you. Will tell her.

My son had 4 offers out of 5 and instead of waiting til the 5th one came thru, he just "withdrew" from the ones he didn't want to attend and chose his "firm" (grades in hand). So that was the end of it. All confirmed for a few months now.

Admittedly, it comes just below the information on dates for 2026 applications, so you need to scroll down a bit, but the overall section title is 'Replying to your UCAS undergraduate offers'.

In 2023, my DS got his offers in the following order:

Exeter: mid March
Bristol: end March
Durham: end April (rejection)
Edinburgh: still waiting to hear back lol

At the time, he was quite relaxed, whilst I was climbing the walls and declaring UCAS to be the worst institution ever.

cockeyedoptimist · 24/02/2025 09:16

I understand that- . The students being laid back while parents are stressing !
After sending off UCAS in October, it ended up like this
Southampton - Oct
Loughborough - Oct
Cambridge - Nov (rejection)
Durham - Jan
Bristol- Feb (rejection)

That is fantastic that Durham was a yes. Is that going to be the firm and then choosing between Southampton and Loughborough?

Yes Durham will be first choice with Loughborough as an insurance ( offer there is slightly lower so works as an insurance option )
