Can anyone recommend a company for work experience abroad?

Dd and I came across a website a while ago offering all sorts of work placements all over the world, anything from 2 weeks to 6 months or more. She was particularly interested in the animal ones eg looking after monkeys in South Africa.

I cant find this website now and in any case have no idea if they’re credible.

Has anyone’s dc done anything similar?

Is she at university?

Not yet. She wants to go eventually but isn’t ready yet. She’s nearly 18.

Ah okay. I thought I’d check as you posted in the HE board. Once she is at uni, the study abroad or similar team will offer placements like this which are vetted.

otherwise, please be very careful with placements like the ones you describe. A lot of them are very expensive voluntourism and actively harm the people or animals being exploited.

Thank you @AelinAG she is thinking about some overseas work before university. Sorry I should have posted on a different board!

This is what worries me, I don’t know the first thing about these companies so wondering if anyone has personal experience.

I wouldn't really think of it as work experience, these kind of trips tend to be more of a holiday.

If she wants to volunteer with projects that really help animal/bird species she could consider WVS she would be working as a volunteer assist vets and vet nurses with various projects. I volunteering as a vet on the neutering and world rabies projects.

DD did 6 weeks in Spain with Workaway at 18.

It's meant to be, iirc, 5 hours of work a day and food and lodging is provided.
She had A level Spanish which helped her.
She did 3 weeks childcare and 3 weeks on a farm for a family who had recently moved house and helped with children and feeding pigs and bits with farm crops.

This looks brilliant, thank you.
