Edinburgh offer holder days

My DD has an offer (for deferred entry for 2026, if that makes any difference to this question!)

I can see online that offer holder days are 12/26 April, but DD says she doesn't have an invite yet. Is this because invites haven't been sent yet?

I would think so. Edinburgh is notorious for not making offers until late, March/April.

I think my DC said the invites go out in Feb but I'm not sure where they saw that.

Thanks both

Dd has an Edinburgh offer already for 2025 so some are out already. The offer days are quite close to their exams though - is this the norm?

Thismighthelp · 01/01/2025 14:31

Yes - she also already has an offer, but we can't work out how to book onto the offer holder day - has your DD got that info?

My DS is in his first year at Edinburgh. I remember that the offer holder's days were late compared to the other universities (he went in school Easter Holidays). We booked the accommodation and travel before we got the official invite as accommodation in Edinburgh is pricey if you leave it late! We stayed the night before the offer holders day. If you are travelling up the East Coast mainline, with Lumo you can book changeable tickets if you aren't sure of which offer holder's day you want to go to.

Heading to the offer holder day on Saturday. YP only seems to have details re their course activities in the afternoon but no details re accommodation tours etc. Has anyone got any info they can share?

My son got an invite to the offer holder day before he received his offer last year 😂

Usually you dont have to book just drop in at the locations they are offering viewing (Pollock for catered and one self catering usually Fraser Court). My DD knew she wanted self catering so we just walked around her longlist. The pictures of the inside of rooms etc on the website are fairly accurate but doesn't give you a sense of the area or walk to lectures, gym, shops.

OP, we got some information as part of the 'informatics' offer holders day. The informatics taster lectures etc are all in the afternoon.

This is what they put about the morning:

"You may wish to take the morning to explore other parts of the University or the city. You can drop-in to our accommodation at Pollock Halls or take an audio tour of the Central or King's Buildings campus. More information can be found here: https://www.ed.ac.uk/studying/undergraduate/applicants/events/science-engineering/22-March "

Not sure if your YP is doing an engineering subject but it probably doesn't matter as it seems Pollock halls will be open to look round whatever.

Hope you both have a good day!
